About Kristina and Kristen

Kristina

Kristina ~

When I began practicing yoga seven years ago, I was over weight, had dyed platinum blond hair, fake nails, was addicted to caffeine among many other things and was in debt thousands of dollars with many credit card companies.

Since I began my journey I have taken off the weight, eliminated caffeine from my diet and paid off my debts. I now live within my means.

For the first time in my life, I am comfortable in my own skin and yoga is the reason why.

I attribute this miracle to practicing the Yamas and the Niyamas, which are the spiritual aspect of yoga.

Yoga for me is the path to connectedness. Connecting the mind, body and spirit or shall I say soul.

For me it is becoming one with the God within yourself.   Discovering what works for me, what makes me happy and who I am. Not who I was taught that I was by my parents and society but the beautiful being that I am as God created me.

I received my certification from world renowned instructor Erika Faith Hatting, at Cloud Nine Yoga, and I have since trained with world renowned master's : Shiva Rea, Erich Schiffmann, Seane Corn, Max Strom, Sherry Brourman, Julian Walker.  I teach on an intuitive level working to help students go beyond their perceived limits, cultivating their self-awareness through building strength and flexibility with an attitude of joy and harmony.

One of my specialties is developing 'core strength' through a variety of asana's and pranayama techniques I encourage my students to ride the wave of their breath to become one with their mind body and spirit.   I have created a non-competitive environment and encourage students to develop their own style.

Come fly with me.

Claire Bigbee ~

I thought I was strong and in great shape until I started doing yoga. When I began practicing yoga I realized how out of balance my life was. Through yoga I am discovering parts of myself through deep relaxation. By developing my physical strength and flexibility I am able to release the tensions of my everyday life and find a peace and serenity in my body, mind and spirit, which I had not found in other forms of exercising.

Yoga is a discipline blending strength, flexibility, and balance by using your breath in combination with movement whether it be restorative, gentle, or vigorous flow style (vinyasana).

My passion for practicing yoga is an unfolding experience for understanding the knowledge of ancient wisdoms and bringing that into my everyday living to spiritually help calm and guide my daily journey.
As I continue my self-discovery through practicing yoga, I hope to share my experience and to guide another in their progress and discovery for inner peace and balance.

Rebecca ~

I first started taking yoga classes when I was eight or nine years old.  Since then I have taken classes on and off and practiced on my own sporadically.
I always found that I wanted to do more yoga when I was going through a difficult time in my life.  I found that the yoga helped me to calm down and helped me to see a bigger picture of what I was going through.
About five years ago I started to become serious about healing my life from abuse, neglect, addictions, and other patterns that I no longer wanted in my life. Before this time I had been aware that I needed to change, but I made all the excuses and was not dedicated to making changes.

One of the ways that I have chosen to help my self to heal has been through yoga.  For me yoga has been such an incredibly empowering and healing experience.  Yoga has truly changed my life.  Because yoga has been so powerful and life changing for me I very much want to share the gift that yoga has given me with you.  I invite you to come and experience what your body has to tell you and to open yourself to the opportunities that surround each of us.

Erin ~

I began practicing yoga over ten years ago in college, but gave it up in pursuit of more material things…jobs, money, possessions.
I came to Maine in December of 2007 to visit family and life took a turn that I could never have expected.
I came upon Sacred Movement Yoga Studio and knew that was the place for me. The teacher training came at a perfect time in my life and has allowed me to pursue my healing in a healthy and constructive way.
I use yoga not only to make my body healthy, but also to keep my mind and my spirit in line with health and healing.  I teach a vinyasa flow class with a focus on intuition and being present in the body.

Going within in yoga is one of the biggest gifts on this path; it allows our minds to stop the chatter and to look for the Truth about who we are and what we are meant to be doing. It is my hope to be a part of the process of you honoring and nurturing yourself on this healing path.
